About the Richmond Dance Society
For over twenty years, the RDS has worked closely with the Richmond Academy of Dance to support its students and programs. In its current form, the RDS functions much like a parent advisory council, with the mandate to raise funds and coordinate programs that directly give back to the students of the Academy.

With a membership comprising of parents, faculty and alumni, the RDS is a 100% non-profit volunteer-run group. Through its year-round fundraising initiatives, the RDS provides the Academy’s dancers with scholarship opportunities, virtue awards, graduate gifts, junior recognition awards and subsidized costume rentals, as well as sponsoring international guest artists to teach at the Academy’s renowned summer intensives every year. The RDS also manages the sales of Academy branded merchandise such as jackets, garment bags, dance bags and luggage tags.
The RDS would not be able to operate without our strong core and support team of volunteers. We presently have an Executive Board of five parents and a Support Team of over fifteen coordinators; these parents are from all divisions of the Academy. We constantly encourage all Academy parents to become actively involved – for an hour at a lobby event, as a coordinator, or as an Executive Member. New participation is always welcome and needed!
