Auditions are required for dancers interested in the following programs:

  • Aug 5 - Aug 22, 2024

    3 weeks of intensive training for dancers 12+ years old.

    Classes in ballet technique, pointe, repertoire, body conditioning, contemporary and Pilates.

    Optional additions of musical theatre, voice, acting, jazz and lyrical.

  • Elementary:

    For the 11-12 year old dancer, an afternoon program for the dedicated young dancer. Classes are in ballet technique, pre-pointe, body conditioning, repertoire, festival and competition preparation.

    Optional additions of musical theatre, voice, acting, jazz, lyrical and contemporary.

    Intermediate:

    For the 13-14 year old dancer, an afternoon and evening program for the serious dancer wishing to pursue classical ballet technique, pointe, repertoire, body conditioning, festival and competition preparation as well as numerous performance opportunities.

    Optional additions of musical theatre, voice, acting, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and Pilates.

  • These programs are designed for the dancer who wishes to seriously pursue becoming a professional in the performing arts world. Dancers’ programs are crafted to suit their individual needs. Several performance, festival, and competition opportunities are offered throughout the year.

    Half Day/Academic as well as full evening programs are offered in: classical ballet, pointe, repertoire, variations, experiential anatomy, Pilates, contemporary ballet, contemporary, RAD Examinations.

    Junior: 11-12 years old, pre-pointe or possibly already en pointe

    Intermediate: 13-14 years old, already training en pointe

    Senior: 15+ years old, preparing for post-secondary dance education and/or training.

    Afternoon/evening training programs are available for jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, and tap.

Video Audition Requirements

    • Centre combination: showing transfer of weight, moving into and out of the floor

    • Improvisation: max 2 minutes

    • Optional choreographed solo: max 2 minutes (in-studio or from a performance)

    • Close-up of face, name and age of dancer

    • Brief description of where you are currently training

    • Center practice and pirouettes: include en dehors and en dedans pirouettes right and left sides

    • Adagio: include écarté and arabesque poses

    • Allegro: 3 exercises

      • Petit

      • Medium: including glissades, assemblés, jetés

      • Grand: travelling big jumps including grand jeté en avant and grand jeté en tournant

    • Pointe work for girls already en pointe:

      • Échappés relevés

      • Diagonal turns

    • Solos, for ages 14+

      • 1-2 minutes of a classical solo, include name of choreographer

      • 1-2 minutes of a contemporary solo, include name of choreographer

    • Completed videos should not exceed 10 minutes.

    • Film a memorized monologue between 1 – 1.5 mins. We recommend selecting monologues that aren’t too far removed from your age, type, and experience.

    • Film two separate contrasting songs, each song should be no longer than 90 seconds in length. You may use live accompaniment (with the pianist in the room with you), or an instrumental track. 

    • Film a short combo (30-45 seconds) that includes movement demonstrating advanced techniques in the respective discipline.

Ballet In-Studio Audition Information

  • 1 hour classical ballet technique class. Pointe work will be included in the audition classes for all intermediate and senior programs.
