Frequently Asked Questions
Can we try a class before registering?
Absolutely! If you are interested in trying out a new style of dance, please contact us and you can try your first class on us!
Where can I find your schedule and pricing?
At The Richmond Academy of Dance, we are proud to provide individualized programming for each student. We place students in the best program for their specific age, experience and progress in each of their various disciplines, allowing students to become the most successful dancers they can be. As a result, we do not post our schedules or fees online as they can vary so greatly between students.
Will my child have performance opportunities?
Yes! We strongly believe in providing all of our dancers opportunities to work toward the exciting goal of performing for a live audience in a theatre.
We host an annual Holiday Season Concert every December which includes excerpts from the Nutcracker, professional guests artists, and our professional division performing our faculty’s original choreography.
In June we hold two year-end shows; one for our General Division, and one for our Professional Division.
Throughout the year we also participate in many local and community events. We believe in connecting with our community and sharing our dancers’ talents, while helping them develop.
Will I be able to watch my child’s classes?
Classes will be open for parents to view during our first and third term. We will send out more details during the year.
Do you participate in competitions?
We provide competition performance opportunities for our closed and professional division dancers. If you are interested in these programs, please contact us!
Do you offer exams?
Yes, we offer Royal Academy of Dance Children’s and Vocational exams. Our certified Classical Ballet teachers prepare students annually for RAD exams.
Can we visit the studio before registering?
Yes, absolutely! We love meeting new dancers and their families and would be happy to show you around our spacious studios in our beautiful River Road location. Please contact our office by email or by phone to schedule a time.
Where can I park?
You can park:
In the designated stalls in our parking lot
Please note the Richmond Academy of Dance has a confirmation from the City of Richmond that we can park on River Road where the signs read “Permit Only” and not be ticketed. This has been confirmed again in June 2024.
Walking a little further down River Road for parking may sometimes be necessary due to increased permit parking demand in the area.
Please follow all other parking signs and regulations.
Please prepare for a very busy parking lot.
You cannot park:
In the middle of our lot on the yellow lines
In front of the glass entrance doors
In the spots marked 'No Parking' leading to the staff parking
On the sidewalk or on the street, blocking our lot in the ‘loading zone’ north of our driveway. The loading zone is ONLY for dropping your children off. No parking is allowed in this zone.
In the ‘No Stopping’ Zones in any of the parking lots along River Road as they will have you towed, including but not limited to: TK Canine Training Centre, or at the Marina across the street, MCR Auto, St. Dulwich Daycare Centre etc
Where you would violate parking laws (ie. in front of fire hydrants, yellow lines, etc.)
