Select Professional Division dancers perform in our beloved holiday show which includes original choreography and Act 2 of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”.

Our 2022 Dance Into Christmas Performance was a great success and we thank you for your support in celebrating our dancers and our visiting professional guests artists!

Guest artists in 2022 included Les Grands Ballets Canadiens professional ballet dancers Anna Ishii and Celestin Boutin, Dramatic Soprano Sheila Christie, Jazz Quartet “Janny and the Jets with Teresa Marie”, and actor Russell Roberts.

Year End Performances

We provide multiple annual opportunities for our dancers to perform on stage!

In June, all of our general division dancers perform in our themed “June Show”, and our professional division dancers perform in our “Celebration of Dance” show.

Past June Show themes include: “Peter Pan (2022), “Cinderella” (2019), “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” (2018), and “The Wizard of Oz” (2017).

In May 2017, we celebrated our 30th Anniversary with a special Gala Performance in which many of our illustrious alumni returned home to share the stage with our Academy dancers at The River Rock Theatre.

We thank you for supporting our 2023 Performances and we are eagerly anticipating our June 2024 Performances!

Virtual Productions

The Academy has continued to provide its dancers with opportunities to perform and create, even throughout the 2020-2021 season when many theatres dimmed their lights.

Through collaboration between our dancers and faculty, and delving into new creative processes, we were able to provide many virtual performance opportunities.

In 2021 we participated in virtual competitions. Some of our group pieces that were invited to multiple honours performances include:

  • Contemporary Ballet Group "Time Tracing"

  • Classical Ballet Group "Scottish Scherzo"

  • Jazz Group "Ascension"

  • Lyrical Group "In the News"

  • Musical Theatre Group "We've Got the Beat"

  • Tap Group "Won't Go"

In April 2020, our classical ballet dancers were invited by CBC to surprise an alumni Heather Ogden, Principal with the National Ballet of Canada. Our dancers performed a selection of their award-winning ballet, “Scottish Scherzo”, for her!
