Virtual Productions
The Academy has continued to provide its dancers with opportunities to perform and create, even throughout the 2020-2021 season when many theatres dimmed their lights.
Through collaboration between our dancers and faculty, and delving into new creative processes, we were able to provide many virtual performance opportunities.
In 2021 we participated in virtual competitions. Some of our group pieces that were invited to multiple honours performances include:
Contemporary Ballet Group "Time Tracing"
Classical Ballet Group "Scottish Scherzo"
Jazz Group "Ascension"
Lyrical Group "In the News"
Musical Theatre Group "We've Got the Beat"
Tap Group "Won't Go"
In April 2020, our classical ballet dancers were invited by CBC to surprise an alumni Heather Ogden, Principal with the National Ballet of Canada. Our dancers performed a selection of their award-winning ballet, “Scottish Scherzo”, for her!
Our “Scottish Scherzo” surprise for Heather Ogden on CBC. Choreography: Tatiana Jakubowski.
