Tatiana Jakubowski, RAD RTS, BAH

Associate Artistic Director

CLASSICAL BALLET & PILATES

Tatiana’s greatest motivation is sharing the joy of dance and movement with individuals of all ages and abilities.

A graduate of the Richmond Academy of Dance’s Professional Program, Tatiana has studied with internationally acclaimed pedagogues including Veronica Tennant, Diane van Schoor, Edmund Stripe, Susan Toumine, Karin Averty, Mercedez Bernardez, and Curtis Foley. Tatiana’s ballet repertoire includes soloist and corps de ballet roles in much of the classical repertoire including The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, The Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, Paquita, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Coppelia.

Tatiana’s keen interest in child development and experience in support roles with children with disabilities, led to obtaining a BAH (Psychology) from Queen’s University. During this time, Tatiana began her teaching and directing journey as the director of Canada’s largest student-run program, producing performances involving over 600 dancers.

A strong believer that teachers are lifelong students, Tatiana constantly furthers her own education. She achieved Registered Teacher Status with the Royal Academy of Dance after completing the Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies program in 2017. She holds Progressing Ballet Technique certifications and is a certified Balanced Body Pilates Mat & Reformer Instructor.

At the Richmond Academy of Dance, Tatiana has choreographed numerous award-winning pieces in which her dancers have excelled at provincial and international competitions and she has received multiple choreography awards. Her desire to share the joy of movement with adults led to her creation of the adult ballet and Pilates program at RAD, RAD Rise. She is delighted to direct and teach for this rapidly growing facet of RAD.

Tatiana is proud to be the Associate Artistic Director at the Richmond Academy of Dance. She is known for inspiring her dancers in an energetic environment and her technical, enthusiastic approach to classical ballet.
