Sophia Strang

MEZZO-SOPRANO

Guest Performer, Dance Into Christmas Performance

Sophia Strang is a mezzo-soprano from Surrey, BC who began her singing career at the Richmond Academy of Dance.

Sophia now resides in New York where she recently graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance, where she performed the roles of: Fortuna in L'incoronazione di Poppea, and the partial roles of Ursule in Béatrice et Bénédict, and Meg in Falstaff. Sophia also has sung with Classic Lyric Arts Programs in Italy and the Berkshires, performing and studying the roles of Romeo in I Capuleti e I Montecchi, Annio in La Clemenza di Tito, and Cherubino and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro. Sophia was part of Seattle Opera's Teen Vocal Studio in which she performed the role of Penelope in Odyssey by Ben Moore and Kelley Rourke. She was a member of the chorus in Vancouver Opera’s productions of Turandot and Hansel and Gretel. In 2015 and 2016, she was awarded as the BC Provincial Champion in Voice. This past summer Sophia performed the role of Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte with the Berlin Opera Academy.
