Laura Ross

ACTING, JAZZ, MUSICAL THEATRE & TAP

Growing up on Vancouver Island, Laura trained under Maureen Eastick and Susan Toumine at Pacific Dance Centre. It was the story-telling component of dance that Laura loved the most and it moved her to pursue both acting and musical theatre.

Laura received her post-secondary education from the Canadian College of Performing Arts. Before graduating, she was offered her first professional play at the Belfry Theatre in Coronation Voyage by Michel Marc Bouchard. Afterwards, Laura continued to develop her acting training at Studio 58 at Langara College.

Ever since, Laura has been fortunate to perform in musicals and plays at theatres across the country. Musical credits include Ermengarde in Hello, Dolly! (Vancouver Playhouse), Kiss Me, Kate (TUTS), Mrs. Potiphar in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Chemainus Theatre Festival), Tess in Crazy For You (Gateway Theatre), Caillou’s Big Book Club (US National Tour, KOBA Ent.), The Backyardigans (Canadian National Tour, KOBA Ent), Kitty in The Drowsy Chaperone (Prairie Skies Theatre Co) and most recently, Erma in Anything Goes (RCMT).

Other plays Laura has acted in include Over the River and Through the Woods (Encore Ent.), Thick-Skinned (a play she wrote, acted and produced for the Toronto Fringe Festival), A Good Way Out (A Stone’s Throws Prod.), The Mystery Plays (NVCP), The Antagonist (Little Mountain Lion Prod.) and The Euphio Question (Little Mountain Lion Prod).

Laura continues to act and choreograph in Vancouver. TV/Film credits include Untold Stories of the ER, Maux Mysteres, Send Us Smokes (Hot Shots), The Search, and Bed Bugs: A Musical Love Story (Reigning Parade Productions).

Laura received an Ovation award for her work in Crazy For You and Darling, A Musical (Springboard Entertainment).
