Shawna Parry: Jazz, Musical Theatre & Tap Instructor

Shawna Parry

Shawna is an accomplished dancer, singer, actor, instructor, choreographer and director.

Her professional performance highlights include Adelaide in Guys and Dolls (Metro Theatre), Eve in The Diary of Adam and Eve (VanFringe), Connie in A Chorus Line (VIVA), Olympic WinterSports Showcase 2010 (URP/City of WestVan), West Side Story (Vancouver Opera), Peggy Lee in The Pack Is Back (Van Warren Productions) and helping with the creation and voice of Sara at a new site-specific and interactive theatre How To Love, The Headphone Play (Idea Factory Ent/Van Fringe). Shawna played Annette in God of Carnage which won the North Shore Theatre BC Zone Festival Award. She also toured across Canada as Oona in the live-stage version of Nickelodeon’s Bubble Guppies Ready to Rock.

Shawna’s choreography and directing credits include A Chorus LineLegally Blonde (Crofton School), Honk! The Musical (The Chilliwack School of Performing Arts), five seasons of The Yellowpoint Christmas Spectacular (RazzleDazzle), Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen with Jeff Hyslop and most recently, A Christmas Spectrum, a musical benefit for autism in Kelowna, BC.

Alongside her professional work, Shawna is also passionate about coaching and mentoring students. Shawna has twice been a judge for Youth Talent Search BC, an adjudicator for Capilano University’s Musical Theatre Department, a production preview adviser for several productions at Studio 58 at Langara College and an adjudicator for the Kiwanis Stage Festival. She has served on faculty at many studios and companies including the Arts Club Intensive, School Creative, Place des Arts, Richmond Gateway Theatre, Dancin’ Stars and at the Richmond Academy of Dance.

Having worked and trained with many of Vancouver’s revered performing artists for over twenty years, Shawna is thrilled to be able to share and pass on her knowledge, expertise and passion for the performing arts. Her fascination with the craft and desire to connect with her students always leads to a dynamic and exciting lesson!
