Josephine was born and raised in Richmond, B.C., where she graduated from The Richmond Academy of Dance’s Professional Program. Josephine trained in classical ballet, modern, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, musical theatre, Pilates, and the RAD syllabus, through to becoming an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance. During her years at Richmond Academy, Josephine had the privilege of learning from internationally acclaimed pedagogues such as Diane van Schoor, Mercedes Bernardez, Karin Averty, Veronica Tennant, Susan Toumine, Joshua Beamish, Simone Orlando, and Curtis Foley. She performed soloist and corps de ballet roles in classical repetoire including Swan Lake, Serenade, La Bayadere, Paquita, and Raymonda.
Josephine graduated from Ryerson University in 2017 with a BFA, Hons. in Performance Dance. Her passion for movement exploration has driven her to work with some of the world’s most esteemed classical and contemporary artists at international intensives and workshops. This includes TapCity (New York City), San Francisco Ballet School, Boston Ballet School, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, TransformationDanse Montreal, and a three-month term at NOD International Contemporary Dance Program (Italy). Most recently, Josephine was invited to participate in a series of Masterclasses with Kerry Nicholls in London, England.
Professionally, Josephine has performed in Toronto, Montreal, Greece, and Italy. Her keen interest in multidisciplinary work led her to working on music video and film projects with Canadian musicians and choreographers.
In addition, Josephine is experienced in teaching dance and Barre fitness to movers of differing ages and abilities. Currently, she is pursuing her Pilates Teacher Certification. Josephine feels very proud to be joining the Faculty, and is excited to share her background in her new roles with the Academy.
