Jocelyn Gauthier, BFA Acting: Vocal Instructor

Jocelyn Gauthier

Originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jocelyn has been training and performing professionally in theatre, musical theatre, film, television and voice-over since the age of seven.

As a dual citizen, Jocelyn moved to Vancouver upon receiving a President’s Entrance Scholarship to study performing arts in the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting Program at the University of British Columbia. While still attending university, Jocelyn was cast as the lead in a feature film and was also a Top Ten Finalist on the CBC show Triple Sensation, winning an award for Most Outstanding Actress. She graduated from the prestigious UBC Conservatory Program with distinction and was immediately accepted into both the American Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in the year-long Masters of Classical Acting Program, the latter of which she trained at in 2010.

In addition to acting, Jocelyn is a classically trained vocalist, pianist and flutist and has trained in ballet, jazz and tap. Her rigorous acting training, combined with her impressive vocal talents and versatility, have allowed her to be successful in many different mediums, winning her numerous awards and landing her lead roles in almost every one of the more than thirty theatre, musical theatre and film productions she has been involved in.

Recent professional credits include Molly in Ghost (Drayton Entertainment), From Broadway With Love (Circle Bright Productions), The Buddy Holly Story (The Globe Theatre), Rock Legends (Chemainus Theatre Festival), Footloose (Chemainus Theatre Festival), Murder She Baked (Hallmark Movies), M&M’s (National Commercial), The Little Prince (Theatre Calgary, World Premiere), Les Miserables (Arts Club Theatre), Snapshots (Presentation House, Canadian Premiere) and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, for which she won an Ovation Award, E.V. Young Award and Aida Broadbent Award.

While continuing to work steadily in theatre and film, Jocelyn also believes that constant and rigorous training is critical to the development of her craft. She trains regularly in Vancouver and has taken workshops with award winning casting directors, producers and creatives from both Broadway and Film and Television. When not engaged in performing herself, Jocelyn teaches children ages three to eighteen in musical theatre, singing and acting. She is passionate about providing training opportunities to the young people of the world and enjoys giving back to the community by passing on her craft to others.
