Claudia Segovia was born in London, England and grew up in Mexico City, Mexico and Spain. She trained in the Royal Academy of Dance Ballet, ISTD Ballet & Modern/Contemporary under Elizabeth Burr, Cuban Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Vaganova methods at different public and private dance programs in Mexico, Spain and Los Angeles, USA.
Claudia began teaching and choreographing when she was fifteen before joining the National Centre for the Arts in Mexico City where she studied Contemporary Dance Choreography. She danced professionally with local contemporary dance companies in Mexico and continued choreographing for Gaia Dance with government grants. She also taught ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz and floor barre.
In 1998, Claudia moved to Vancouver where she has since been teaching dance across the Lower Mainland as well as specialized visual arts and dance programs for children with autism and learning difficulties. Claudia has twenty years of teaching experience with children of all ages preparing them for examinations, performances and creative processes.
She believes that learning through the arts at any technical level is crucial for children in this day and age to prepare them for their future through hard work, perseverance, teamwork, contribution, confidence, discipline, physical activity, focus and mental clarity.
