Karissa has worked as a freelance contemporary dance artist for 14 years as a performer, choreographer and instructor. She has worked with various dance companies and choreographers across Canada such as Serge Bennathan, JoeInk, Out Innerspace Dance Theatre, Raven Spirit Dance, Sylvain Émard Danse, The Vancouver Opera and Wen Wei Dance. She has toured throughout Asia, Canada, Europe, South America, and The U.K. Karissa has created numerous short works showcased in DOTE, Modus Operandi, la Petite Scène, Small Stage, Ballet BC’s “Babylon”, and self-produced a full-length evening entitled “STRATEGY THREE” as well as two dance films in which she produced and edited. Her dance on film projects have been screened in Vancouver, Berlin, and Cyprus. She has also appeared in various TV commercials and print ads such as Mountain Equipment Co-op’s yoga apparel line. As an instructor for the professional contemporary community as well as students, Karissa teaches ballet, contemporary, conditioning, and improvisational techniques.
