Heather is an award-winning dancer, choreographer, and teacher, andproud Director and Co-owner of the Richmond Academy of Dance. She has trained extensively in tap, lyrical and jazz with world greats includingRoss McKimof the London Contemporary Dance Theatre, Duncan Nobleof the North Carolina School of the Arts, the exceptional faculty of Los Angeles’ Edge School of Performing Arts, andmany more.

In addition towinning numerous awards for her own performances, Heatherhas receivedmany accolades for her choreography across North America. She has been recognized by dance masters including LA’s Adam Parsons, Charles McGowan and ChristineWoodward; and by LA Danceforce, Surrey Dance Festival and Coquitlam Festival, winningOverall Best Choreography in various categories.Heather has choreographed for high-profile events such as the Beijing World Expo Gala, 2010 Cultural Olympiad, the 100-Year Anniversary of the PNE, Miss Chinatown Pageant, Artists in Action, R&B Group “Quick Trouble”, and Cole Armour.

Heather has createddance pieces in contribution toprojects such as The Youth Gang Awarenesswith the Vancouver City Police, the Made in Vancouver Festival supportinglocal arts groups, and Kids Help Kidsbenefit events. She is proud of her work with the Black Historical Society, having choreographed for many of their events, as well as her contributions to the Royal Caribbean Revue Cast, Groove Productions, and Artists in Action Creative Group.

Heather has enjoyed directing the jazz, contemporary, tap, hip-hop, and musical theatre programs for 31 years. Graduates have said that“Heather harnesses the strengths of her dancers and utilizes them brilliantly”.Heather is extremely proud of the Academy’s alumni, many of whom are continuing their training in prestigious schools, have established their own companies, are teaching professionally, or are performing on the stage and screen.

Heather is regularly invited to guest teach and adjudicate indance competitions across North America. She is committed to staying current and constantly upgrading her skills, training on an ongoing basis in various workshops and programs. Heather, alongside with Co-Directors Annette and Jozef Jakubowski, continues to fulfill her dream of providing exceptional dance training, and preparing well-rounded, talented and committed professionals of the future.
